A little sound goes a long way.
Use a performance of the selected piece in the same arrangement. Choose the starting measure, then start listening. Use earbuds so the microphone hears the room. If the music stops or the match is uncertain, the guide goes quiet.
Testing hymn 30 with the official recording? Begin at the vocal entry near 0:13, after the organ introduction, with measure 1 and a starting tempo near 67 BPM. This prototype follows one verse; reset before the next verse.
Prepared pieces only. Use the measure slider after a restart or a long pause. See the real choir test report for measured failures and improvements. Phone microphone and earbud latency still need testing. Match strength is an estimate, not an accuracy score.
Does it actually follow the music?
In Listen live, it listens and attempts to adjust. It compares microphone audio with the selected prepared score, estimates your place and tempo, and schedules your part. Practice follows the tempo slider instead.
It can lose its place on real choir audio. A high pitch-pattern match does not guarantee the right measure. It won’t recognize an unprepared song, reliably isolate your voice, or predict a conductor’s restart after silence. Use the starting-measure control and matching score arrangement.
